Meet the Founder

Welcome, I'm so glad you're here. I'm Heather Semke, the founder and principal interior decorator of FUNCY DECOR. I believe your home can be both FUN and FUNCtional—a direct reflection of you, your personality, and how you live, work, and entertain.

My love of design started when I would go antiquing with my mom and grandparents as I was growing up. I loved the colors, styles, and the joy of finding the perfect piece; especially if it was part of a hard-to-find set. Design became a bigger passion as I began my career as an IT consultant and manager where I helped design systems that made people’s work lives easier.

While I was working in IT, I found joy in learning about decor and decorating friends’ and families’ homes. I then took some time off from Corporate America to be at home with my two children. In 2020, we built a new home, and the building and design process lit an even bigger fire in me for my love of design and decor. I became certified in interior decorating and FUNCY DECOR was born.
